Mixed bag of nothin'

(via)

Howdy all!

Happy almost Friday!

Not a whole lot to report today.  Yesterday was just kind of blah all around for both of us.  It was hard to get motivated to exercise and even though we did a resistance band workout, it was only for about 25 minutes before we called it quits.  I got about 320 calories burned on it which was enough because my food intake was pretty low.  I think 1400 calories.  We had black bean and cheese quesadilla for dinner with a side of carrots.

We caught up on the DVR a bit.  We gave The Returned a go, the one on A&E with Jeremy Sisto.  We'll probably hang in a bit but it seems just like the other version, Resurrection, they don't quite know how to tackle things.  We'll see.  I don't know if our DVR has kicked Criminal Minds off the roster but we finally saw the first one in a long time last night.  I see they're writing Jennifer Love Hewitt's pregnancy into the show.  I saw we missed two nights of The Voice and I just deleted them.  I figure at that point it doesn't really matter and I don't know, without Gwen, I just don't feel like listening to Christina.  Pfft.

I told you, I don't have much for today.  It's not always whirly birds and fireworks at the homestead.

Have you given any new shows a chance?  Do you have a show that gets deleted on the regular from your DVR?

  1. I was a little disappointed in The Returned but am willing to give it a chance. It just seems like with such a neat premise for a show, nobody does know how to handle it properly which is odd because I think just about anyone could imagine what it would be like if something like that happened and yet the reactions didn't seem all that natural to me. It's like, "oh you were dead 4 years ago but here you are standing in front of me like nothing happened, let me go get some vodka". Not sure that would be MY reaction to such a thing but then again I don't drink so who knows?

    1. Yeah everyone acted pretty non-chalant that their loved ones were back from the dead. Very weird stance to take. Hope it improves.

    1. We liked the few episodes of Scorpion we saw but it was on the same time as Sleepy Hollow and The Voice so it got booted. But with Sleepy's future in question, who knows, we may try to catch up.

  3. I have amazon prime and binge watched an entire season of Bosch. Actually made everyone else watch it too because I was watching it on the big tv in the living room. But it was a really good show and I can't wait for the next season. I caught the first episode of The Glades and it seems like it may be a good one too. Fast paced cop dramedy, very witty.

    1. We'll have to watch that show on Amazon, I keep seeing ads for it and it could be interesting especially in the prime time "off season."

  4. My DVR has been acting a little funny, once it showed that it was recording but then wasn't. I was more than a little upset. There's a new one starting next week, "I Zombie" (I think) and it could be interesting. Other than that one starting and Walking Dead I haven't really been watching much of anything at all lately.

    1. Ours does that too sometimes!! I'd love to throw that thing across the room sometimes. 21st century and this is how TV is now. They lied to us back in the day when they talked about how on demand would work.

  5. No DVR here but I do have netflix (old school where I get discs in the mail).

Right now I'm working through the second season of House of Cards. It's a fun watch but I tend to nod off during it (it gives out a sleepy vibe, I swear) so I do have to re-watch a bit to make sure I didn't miss any little thing.

I also recommend (in no order):

    Nurse Jackie
    Shameless
    Orphan Black
    True Detective
    Penny Dreadful
American Horror Story (dieing to see FreakShow)

    1. I'll be interested to see what you think of Freakshow. It was the nail in the coffin for us on that show.

    2. I agree with you on that one. But I will be checking out the new season anyway. Maybe fresh blood will revive it.

  6. I like all the shows on Wednesday from 7-9pm on ABC. Scorpion is one of my favorite shows because of the unexpected humor in it. I end up cracking up during all the espionage. My mom loves, loves, loves Downton Abbey, but I've never seen it. I don't DVR a lot unless I'm not going to be home to watch something. What I do end up having to delete are the little annoying ads from DISH that they sneak in there!

    1. I've never seen Downton Abbey either but the MIL loves it. She goes to parties and stuff for it. Mmm hmm. Dish DVR's ADS!?!?! Not cool!
