Hoarding required and movie streak continues

Happy Hump Day, all!

I don't know if I'm the only one who cares or am the only one over 21 who still bought Bonne Bell makeup but I read they're closing up shop and selling parts of the company.  I use their lip glosses and eye shadows exclusively so I was heartbroken.  The two places I know of around here that sell it were down to the bare bones so I grabbed what I could.

I think I'm set on the glosses until I'm 60 but the eye shadow was not a successful hunt.  I only found a runner up to the brown set I usually use so I grabbed it.  Sigh.

We did Walk Away the Pounds Firm 30 (free weights) and a nice stretch session afterward.  Dinner was sadly our last stuffed flounder from Trader Joe's as it's become too fishy, too mustardy and too small to warrant plunking down our dinero for anymore.  What is worse than when TJ's pulls your favorite item?  When they don't care that it's turned to crap and keep carrying it.  Errrrg!

We rented two more movies yesterday since it was new release Tuesday.  We rented The Best of Me and Hector and the Search for Happiness.  (affiliate links) The Best of Me was the Mr's penance for me having to watch Lucy.  Sadly, it was kind of punishment for me as well.  The younger versions of the couple were poorly cast, therefore I couldn't connect with them and didn't care as much when the big twist came.  The younger version of Dawson didn't remotely look like the hunky James Marsden so it felt like watching two different couples.  Hector was a good movie.  A good mix of comedy, drama and very thought provoking.  One of those life changers if you allow it to be.

What's your favorite brand of make up?  Have you ever hoarded an item when you heard it could be going away?

  1. I'm glad you were able to at least get a few of those Bonne Bell items. Hopefully some other company will buy them out and continue to produce their big selling items.

Of the two movies we got, I find that I can't stop thinking about the Hector and the Search for Happiness. It is actually a very entertaining movie and I have a lot to say but don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it though.

    1. I'm hoping they'll continue to manufacture that line. I know the company that bought them is going to likely still produce Lip Smackers but I don't know if the Lip Lites and those eye shadows will be saved. Fingers crossed!

I liked Hector too though I felt a little trailer duped as I thought it was supposed to be a little more lighthearted but it was still good overall.

  2. I use a mix and match approach to make-up. I use Almay Smartshade but the prices keep going up and up and up. This weekend I found it buy one get one half off plus the store had a $5 off coupon so I bought 2. I can't use one brand of eye shadow because it makes my eyes swell, but of course I can't remember which one it is, I just recognize the packaging and don't buy it. Blush and eye shadow I just buy whatever is in the color I need and don't worry too much about brand.

I'm glad you enjoyed at least one of your movies. I agree that James Marsden is yummy - he's one I'd watch pretty much whatever he's in.

    1. You've got to grab those deals when you can get them. Since I work from home, I don't wear makeup nearly as much but I cringe every time I have to buy something like face powder or foundation because the prices are INSANE! If I could make my own makeup, I would. I don't know how they get away with their pricing and I'm talking about the little guys like Covergirl much less anything in department stores.

  3. I use Estee Lauder. Yes I know its outrageously priced, however it lasts a really long time and the foundation actually blends in instead of sitting on my face looking like a mask.

    1. If it lasts a long time and blends naturally, I'm sure the cost evens out over time. (At least that's what I'd tell myself! LOL)

  4. I did not know about Bonnie Bell closing up shop! I've always liked their lip glosses (I have multiple lip balms all over the house, my purse, my desk at work). I'll have to check out the local stores here to see if there's anything left in stock. Sometimes I'll find that brand at Dollar Tree, so I'll look there too. I've had a few hair products that I've hoarded and there was an eye gel from Clinique that I always got for free that has since changed the formula and it's more of a cream -- blech. They ruined it for me. On a food note, there was the very BEST meatloaf mix from Lawry's that my mom used since the day I was born that I used up to three years ago. They discontinued it and it broke my heart. There are so many people I know who were just crushed when it went away because it was a favorite around here for decades. Meatloaf is just meh now and it'll never be the same for me. Sigh.....

    1. Yeah, I was horrified when I saw that. I'm hoping they don't stop making the stuff I like but I saw the big box store I went to already had all of the stuff clearanced and it was picked over. Grrrr. I'll have to check Dollar Tree. I hate it when places change a formula. Ugh.

Sucks about the meatloaf mix. You get used to that and all you can do is try to find a picture of the back of the packet to see if you can recreate the taste based on the ingredients.

  5. My bestie JUST texted me that Best of Me is on vid (she saw it in theaters and told me I should see it. emotional, big sad ending or something). She said the commercial announcing that it's on vid says that they changed the ending! I wanna see the orig ending. No do overs. No take backsies!

    1. I'd be interested to hear your take on Best of Me. I heard they changed the ending but I didn't read the book so I don't know how it originally ended anyway. It became very apparent before the event...at least for me it did. I think I'd want a version with the original ending and then their Hollywood ending.
