My Current Crushes - Beauty Edition

It's been a while since I've done a current crush post, especially with stuff to help you look all purty.  So let's get to that, shall we?

1. Pond's Luminous Finish BB Plus Cream with SPF 15 - I actually got this as a sample because I have not been happy with the BB's I've tried.  I liked the coverage of Maybelline but it would burn my eyes and I'm sorry but my eyes need the most coverage so it has to go around the raccoon eyes.  But when I put on this Pond's BB Cream, I was pleasantly surprised to see it had good coverage and it didn't sting my eyes or make them red.  Score!

2. Crest 3D White Whitestrips - I used the Vivid version for a few years because I'm a tea drinker and I didn't want dull, nasty teeth to overshadow my nearly perfect smile.  (I can't count how many people tell me I'm lying about never having had braces.)  I decided to bump up to the professional version over a year ago and I only got through half the box before I got the same results as the other box.  So I stopped there to see how long it would last.  I still have that half box.  I will say it makes your teeth sensitive for a few days but it goes away pretty quick and it's worth it for the whitening power you get.  Plus, I have a little secret weapon that helps it last.  More on that later.

3. Trader Joe's Coconut Body Butter(affiliate link)  I thought this might be a temporary thing when it was introduced last summer but thankfully they've kept it around...so far.  It has a nice vanilla scent, more so than coconut but still tropical smelling.  It makes your skin so soft and I don't know if I would've gotten out of winter alive without it!

4. Maybelline New York Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Waterproof Mascara(affiliate link) I have messed around with other volume mascara's and I keep coming back to this one.  It gives great coverage, isn't clumpy (even when I may or may not have had it past its recommended usage date) and the waterproof version stays on through rain, swimming or the part in Steel Magnolias where Sally Field flips out at the grave site.

5. Crest 3D White Vivid Toothpaste (Radiant Mint) - (affiliate link)  Remember that mention of my secret weapon?  Well, this is it.  When I did my white strips before, my brilliant white would last for about 6 months and there would be a slow fade but by the time a year rolled around, it was time to strip up again.  When we decided to give Crest 3D White Toothpaste a try to see if it was help or hype, we were pleasantly surprised to see it was AMAZING.  It's been over a year since we did our last white strip treatment and I would say that effect has worn off by maybe 15%.  Not Dwayne Johnson white teeth but significantly whiter than the average person who doesn't treat their teeth.  So I will always buy this toothpaste because it helps greatly maintain the strip treatment and saving us money.  It's only $.50 more than our old toothpaste so it's worth it for sure.  I also prefer the Radiant Mint because it tastes like peppermint.  Their other flavor is like spearmint and that makes me retch, soooo....there's that.

So those are my picks for my favorite beauty products lately.  (I don't do these often because if I find something that works, I'm loyal for life...or until they don't make it anymore.)

What are some of your beauty faves?

  1. Dangit - I had a post all written but forgot I had my cookies turned off and it got deleted. Hate when that happens,
I have really sensitive teeth so I've been running the gamut of sensitive products, but haven't found one that I really love yet. I've tried products that claim to be sensitive and whitening, but I haven't found any combination ones that actually have a right to claim either. I had one brand that I used for years, but then one day it just disappeared from the shelves. I wish I'd known, i would have stocked up.
I've tried a couple BB's (but not the Ponds one), but wasn't really happy with them so I went back to my Almay Smart Shade with a sheer mineral powder over it.
Last fall I was talking to the lady that cuts my son's hair and complaining about mine, she suggested I try Biotin. I usually blow off that kind of advice, but I picked it up on a whim and I can't believe the difference it has made. I don't know that my hair is actually thicker, but if seems like it. Plus it hasn't been as dry this winter and usual and it's less flyaway-y.

  2. I just recently bought a facial scrub called Simple. They have other products of that line so I'm going to give the face moisturizer a try next. I also tried a Dove soap that has little scrubbers in it and I really like that a lot. I have extremely dry skin (keratosis pilaris on my arms) and I like how this makes my skin feel after a shower. Those are the only two products I can think of at the moment. I feel like there is something else but I'll come back if I can think of it.
